2025-06-15 Sunday – Burrendong Botanic Garden and Arboretum.

Meet at Orange High Bus Bay at 9.00 am. Car-pooling is encouraged, and we will travel along Burrendong Way. BYO food, water, a chair, sunscreen and a hat.

Field Nats have made many visits to the arboretum and there are always interesting plants and birds to see. https://www.burrendongbga.com.au/ gives the following overview. ‘Established in 1964, Burrendong Botanic Garden and Arboretum is a 164 ha community run Crown Reserve on the shores of Lake Burrendong, near Wellington NSW, dedicated entirely to native Australian flora.
It’s mission is to preserve for future generations an inspirational collection of Australian plants, particularly those of the inland slopes and plains of temperate eastern Australia, for the purpose of conservation, education and recreation

A member of the Friends of the Botanic Gardens will meet us and give an overview of the gardens and planned redevelopments because of a recent large grant.

This will be a full day excursion as we will visit various parts of the gardens. People with moderate fitness will be able to take short walks along the trails, some of which have steep sections. Others with a lower level of fitness can do shorter walks providing they are with someone else.
